A study and reading room built around a deep window seat. A coffered ceiling, painted panelling in a soft charcoal grey and warm oak furniture keep the room calm and bright through the whole day.
The room was stripped back to the studs and rebuilt around the window wall. The bay was reframed to take a full width window seat, with the casing, sills and trim built as one piece so the glass reads as a single opening.
The ceiling was dropped into a shallow coffer, which gave us a clean route for new lighting and let every fixture land on the grid. Walls are painted in a deep grey that holds the daylight without going cold, finished against crisp white trim.
Before anything was built, the room was modelled in full so the panel layout, coffer spacing and window seat could be agreed on screen. On site that meant no guessing, and nothing was moved after it was fixed.
