A whole house renovation defined by natural materials and a restrained monochrome palette. Exposed timber trusses give the main volume its structure and warmth, set against white plaster, black stone and blackened metal.
The main volume was opened to the roof and the truss structure left exposed. Timber is the only warm material in the room, which is why every connection, bolt and shoe was detailed before the ceiling was closed anywhere else.
Kitchen and fireplace are treated as one black mass against the white shell, with a stone island and a seamless poured floor running through without thresholds. Bathrooms repeat the same three materials at a smaller scale, so the house reads as one project rather than a set of rooms.
Outside, a courtyard pool sits tight against the elevation, framed by the same timber posts used inside. It is a small move that ties the addition back to the original house.
